Our Studio Parent Council

Over the years we have felt privileged to collaborate with the parent community.  As the studio grows, it is one of the relationships that remains a key part of our vision to provide so much more than dance.  We truly believe that in working closely together we create the best opportunity to support every dancer in the best way possible. This small group of active parents are helping us build the model and try some new things for this year.  You will likely recognize some or all of these parents as they are often seen in the waiting room answering questions and generally helping in any way they can.

The formation of the Parent Council is allowing us to provide focus on activities that will enrich the experience as a Springbank Dancer.  You can expect to hear more about fundraising opportunities that will be designed to off-set recital costume fees, create new performance opportunities, support Duke of Edinburgh and Competition Team Programs.  You will also see a comment box in the lobby as a way to provide suggestions and accolades that the parent committee can take forward on your behalf.  There will be some added attention to in studio contests and games designed to help dancers build good habits and achieve their goals.

There are a couple of key areas where the Parent Council is looking for additional committee leadership.  These volunteer opportunities include…

  • Fundraising (organizing studio fundraising events to help subsidize recital costume costs, our Duke of Ed program, Competition enrichment fees, performance opportunities, etc.)

  • Karma Classes (utilizing our own dancers and young teachers, and offering fun ‘donation-based’ class opportunities for all our dancers with the intentions of supporting a family or organization)

  • Recital (costume measuring week, backstage help, flower sales, etc.)

  • Year End BBQ (assisting with set-up/clean-up, entertainment ideas, creating a volunteer schedule, etc.)

If you see any of our Parent Council members in the studio, please introduce yourself. You can always ask questions/forward comments in person, via email, or using the Comment Box below, or at the front desk. Or, are you interested in being a part of our Parent Council??? Please send us a message below. :)
