At Springbank Dancers we have some of Calgary's most experienced and passionate dance teachers. Every day we bring creativity, knowledge and love for dance to the studio. Each instructor brings different and exciting elements to their classes, and our goal is to ensure class is enjoyed by each student providing advanced direction and choreography, while honouring each child’s individual life journey. Each instructor is chosen for their experience, unique attributes, commitment to the students and studio, and their warm and open personality.

MISS DEVON

Miss Devon

* Owner/CEO, Director of Business and Operations, Dance Educator, ADAPT, AAC

Miss Devon heading into her 19th year as Owner and CEO of Springbank Dancers!!! She began Figure Skating at age 5 and became intensely competitive. To increase her strength and poise, she began taking ballet and jazz, which quickly became a new passion for her. Soon after, she started student teaching and expanding her knowledge in various disciplines of dance, attending multiple studios, classes, and work-shops around the city. Miss Devon danced professionally for the Michael Bernard Fitzgerald production for two years, which toured throughout Southern Alberta. She also worked closely with the Production Managers at So You Think You Can Dance Canada auditions in 2008, and choreographed for various fundraisers and events, including "ONE Voice of World Dance" and the Olympic Torch Relay 2010. Miss Devon travels North American to take dance classes and teacher's workshops and is a fully certified ADAPT instructor, Level 1 Early Childhood Certified through FAC, and has received full certification as an Acrobatic Arts instructor, up to the Advanced level. Miss Devon is driven to always be expanding her knowledge and experiences to pass down to her students.

Miss Devon and husband Carey are the proud parents of two boys, Zac (almost 11yrs) and Knox (9yrs)! While the boys make lots of appearances at the studio between hockey practices and games, Miss Devon sees the entire studio as an extension of her family and hopes that each student feels the acceptance and care the studio embraces.

MISS MIKKI

Miss Mikki

* Director of Client Relations - YEAR 12 as an Administrator with Springbank Dancers

Miss Mikki began dancing at the age of 3 and quickly fell in love with the stage. Over the years, she trained and competed in a variety of styles, with a special love for Musical Theatre and Tap. She joined Springbank Dancers at 13 and began working at the studio’s front desk during high school. What started as one night a week grew into her current role as Director of Client Relations. Over the years, she has truly “done it all” at the studio—as a dancer, student teacher, teacher, and administrator. Outside of the dance world, Miss Mikki holds a Master’s degree in International Relations, specializing in Security & Strategy. She brings the communication, problem-solving, and people-focused skills developed through both her education and her years at the studio to her role, and she loves helping create a welcoming and positive experience for Springbank Dancers families.

MISS AMALIA

Miss Amalia

* Director of Culture & Creativity; Dance Educator - YEAR 6 with Springbank Dancers

In her second to last year of being a student at SDI and high school, she started teaching the younger dancers jazz and hip hop classes and instantly knew she wanted to do this long-term. She was a big-star mentor at the time and was always so amazed by the concept of choreography. Soon after, when she started choreography, she fell in love with the art of personal creation and artistry through movement. She continued to finish being a student in both dance and school while teaching, student teaching, mentoring, big- star and other opportunities that helped her progress while still focusing on her personal dance career.

Miss Amalia just graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor's degree in Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies! She also works in Real estate and property management and am on the Stampeder Outriders Cheerleading team! She continues to teach and choreograph in jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, salsa, and has expanded her learning in Pom and Ballroom! Miss Ami is passionate about our upcoming program in adaptive movement alongside her degree and is always excited about learning and growing with students each year.

MISS MARYN

Miss Maryn

* Competition Director, Dance Educator

Miss Maryn began dancing with Springbank Dancers at the age of 12. With a passion for dance and collaborative art, she recently completed her BFA in Dance from the University of Calgary. Being heavily involved as a performer and choreographer throughout her degree, Miss Maryn has had the opportunity to work with local and international dance artists who have expanded her perception of the art form. Local credits include performances with the Alberta Dance Festival, Peggy Baker Dance Projects, kloetzel&co, W&M Dance Projects, and the Ignite! Festival. In August of 2014, Maryn travelled to Namibia, Africa to participate in a dance internship program with the Ombetja Yehinga Organization; an organization which aims to raise awareness about social issues through the arts. Maryn is constantly working to expand her body of knowledge in contemporary dance, and is so excited to share that with her students! Additionally, Miss Maryn is the Director of our Competitive Program, leading a team of 40 competitors and over 10 choreographers throughout the season to further their training and passion for dance!

MISS KRISTEN

Miss Kristen

* Dance Educator, Ballet Program Director, STEP Director, A.I.S.T.D - YEAR 12 with Springbank Dancers

Miss. Kristen has been dancing and teaching for over 20 years, beginning her training at Crossings Dance. She attended The Banff Centre Summer Dance Program and was accepted into the Okanagan Summer Dance Intensive in Kelowna, British Columbia. Miss. Kristen attended Project Dance in New York City in 2006 and 2008, as well as in Toronto in 2009. In the fall of 2010 Miss. Kristen successfully accomplished her R.A.D. Advanced 2 Ballet examination. In 2013 she graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Communications. She has been a member of Corps Bara Dance Theatre in both the youth and professional companies. Miss Kristen was the Artistic Director of Crossings Youth Dance Company, a youth contemporary performance company in the city of Calgary from 2015-2024. She has been awarded her Associate and Associate Diploma with the Imperial Society of Teachers and Dancing out of London, England. We are so excited to have Miss Kristen back this season to challenge our dancers and assist in the continuing growth of our reputable ballet program!

Somethings you may not know about Miss Kristen: I choreograph mostly in my car & I make pies from scratch - crust and everything!

MISS ANA

Miss Ana

* Dance Educator - YEAR 3 with Springbank Dancers

Going into her 13th year in total with the studio, she couldn't be more grateful to have found a space like Springbank Dancers. From starting her journey in Hip Hop, she was inspired into Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet while also discovering her gravitation towards choreography and teaching. Miss Ana's passion and love for dance has only ever grown in the environment and mindset we share with the dancers here. **On her day off:** Miss Ana enjoys sitting in the sun or watching something new in theatres

CJ has been dancing for 11 years but 14 years total and is entering into his Graduating season and we're thrilled to have him working with our young Acrobats! His favourite styles are contemporary, Jazz and acro!

MISS DELANEY

Miss Delaney

* Dance Educator - YEAR 2 with Springbank Dancers

Delaney began her dance training in Cochrane, AB, at the age of four, and discovered a deep love of dance through training in ballet, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and tap. While completing her vocational examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance, she decided to follow her passion of the arts by obtaining various accreditations to further her work as a teacher.

Delaney is certified with the RAD, ADAPT, PBT, and Primary Acrobatic Arts, and continues to engage in professional development courses and workshops. Outside of the studio, Delaney has always had a passion for drama, theatre, and music, and has participated in extensive Improvisation and Music Workshops with Disney and Vancouver Film School.

When not at the studio you can find Miss Delaney: Hanging out with my two cats, Bruce and Daisy, or on my motorcycle in the mountains!

MISS HOLLY

Miss Holly

* Dance Educator - YEAR 2 with Springbank Dancers

Miss Holly has been dancing at Springbank Dancers for the past 13 years, and is in her second year of solo teaching. She started dancing when she was 3 years old as a way to open up, and over the years it has become her biggest outlet and passion. She's also had the opportunity to student teach for 4 years, and be a Big Star in our Mentorship Program which showed her how much she loves working with younger dancers and helping them grow.

MISS KAELEIGH

Miss Kaeleigh

*Dance Educator - YEAR 5 with Springbank Dancers

Miss Kaeleigh is thrilled to be returning to the SDI team for next season! A graduate of the Honours Acting Program at the University of Winnipeg, Miss Kaeleigh was active in the Winnipeg arts community as a performer, director, and musician, before moving to Calgary a few years ago with her partner, Nic, and their two dogs, Alfie and Terrance. Her passion lies with teaching performing arts to children; Miss Kaeleigh taught theatre and dance in Winnipeg for over ten years. Ballet has always been her favourite style, completing the RAD syllabus through Advanced 2.

A lifelong learner, Miss Kaeleigh is excited to embark on a three year journey with the Royal Academy of Dance, with the destination being a Masters of Education (Dance Teaching) and Registered Teacher Status with the RAD!!! Additional certifications include PBT and Leadership in Dance and Adjudication through TDLI!

When not in the studio, Miss Kaeleigh loves to ride bikes, explore the outdoors, and try out all the restaurants YYC has to offer!

Something you may not know about Miss Kaeleigh: She has made short films and was in a band that made the Top 10 on college radio charts across the country, beating out David Bowie some weeks.

MISS LAUREN

Miss Lauren

* Dance Educator - YEAR 7 with Springbank Dancers

Lauren was born in Houston Texas where she started her dance career at age 4, when she was 5 she moved to Calgary and continued dancing at Springbank Dancers. She danced at this studio recreationally until she was 12 then joined the competition team which she was a part of until she graduated high school. After high school, Lauren continued to teach at Springbank Dancers and she loves every second of it, passing on her love of dance to young dancers. Lauren went to the University of Calgary for a combined degree in Kinesiology and Dance and she graduated with distinction in both degrees in 2024. Lauren has always loved dance and has pursued every performance opportunity that has come her way, She hopes to continue passing on her love of dance to her students along with continuing her training and performing as much as possible.

MISS RUBY

Miss Ruby

* Dance Educator - YEAR 1 with Springbank Dancers

Ruby has been dancing at the studio for 5 years and has many years of working with a variety of ages of dancers. She has a passion for sharing the joy of dance with others and brings such a warm energy to her classes! She loves creating a fun, positive, and welcoming environment where every dancer can feel confident, express themselves, and grow.

You may have seen Miss Ruby before as a student teacher, competitor, summer camp leader, and always assisting backstage at Winter Showcases and Recitals!

She is so excited to inspire her students, learn alongside them, and make lots of special memories in the studio!

MISS SHELBY

Miss Shelby

* Dance Educator - YEAR 4 with Springbank Dancers

Shelby has been dancing since the age of 5, beginning in tap, branching out later into jazz and ballet, and even later (at 17!) into acro. Since then, she has continued her passion for dance through participating in performance groups around Calgary. She has most recently danced with En Corps Dance Collective in their shows ‘Ephemeral' and 'System Error', as well as the musical 'The Gardener’. Shelby is going into her seventh year of her dance teaching career. This path has allowed her to choreograph for multiple dance teams, schools, and musicals throughout Calgary. Shelby currently holds certification through Acrobatic Arts, both in Module One and AcroDance Preschool and in Alixa Flexibility Module One. She most recently completed the Acrobatic Arts Aerial and Back Handspring workshop and attended the Acro Dance Teachers Association (ADTA) AcroLive Conference. Outside of the dance world, Shelby is a Grade 2 teacher with the CBE. She is so grateful to continue being apart of the SDI family!
