AMALIA

* "Jazz Funk" and "Tap" Instructor

In my second to last year of being a student at SDI and high school, I started teaching the younger dancers jazz and hip hop classes and instantly knew I wanted to do this long-term. I was also a big-star at the time and was always so amazed by the concept of choreography. Soon after, when I started choreography, I fell in love with the art of personal creation and artistry through movement. I continued to finish being a student in both dance and school while teaching, student teaching, mentoring, big- star and other opportunities that helped me progress while still focusing on my personal dance career. Throughout the last couple of years I have been so fortunate to have learnt so much from fellow staff and each year I feel so much passion towards the art and the students. They truly fuel my love for this job!

Kristi

"Zumba" Instructor

Anna is beyond excited to bring her passion for movement and music to the Springbank Dancers team! With a lifetime of dance experience, she began her journey at just five years old, training professionally in Ballroom and Latin dance. In Ukraine, she owned and operated her own dance school, guiding students of all ages in developing confidence, technique, and a deep love for dance.

Since moving to Canada, Anna has continued her dance career, attending Zumba classes and falling in love with their energy, freedom, and joy. Now, as a certified Zumba Instructor, she blends her extensive dance background with the infectious rhythms of Zumba to create classes that are fun, empowering, and accessible to everyone!

Something you may not know about Anna: She speaks multiple languages and has a background in corporate finance!

CASSANDRA JANSON

Cassandra Janson

* "Gentle Flow" Yoga Instructor

Cassandra was introduced to Yoga by her Grandmother as a child and the practice has been a continual sanctuary ever since. She completed her initial Hatha teacher training in 2012 and has been honored to guide a mix of private and studio lessons. A secondary Yin/Restorative training followed in 2014, as did a diploma in Massage Therapy in 2015. The intensive study of anatomy, physiology and remedial exercise has influenced Cassandra's teaching style greatly; her classes are designed to stretch and strengthen synergistic and antagonistic muscle groups to promote postural alignment and optimal balance in the body. There is a strong meditative emphasis, encouraging deep release and relaxation. Personally, Cassandra enjoys time in nature, travel and music.

Lisa - BSc, RTR, RPT

"Strength & Resistance" Instructor

I have been interested in fitness and working out since my mid 20's, starting with teaching step aerobics in my university days, and when we lived overseas, I was always getting asked how the equipment in the gym worked. I became a personal trainer almost 20 years ago when we moved back to Calgary.

I have always focussed on resistance training because it is important for women to have a strength so we don't get injured in daily life. Muscle helps strength and integrity in joints and bones so we can lift and move safely. As we age I believe it is essential to continue to build muscle, as MUSCLE is the organ of LONGEVITY. Recently have changed my group workouts to be focussed on heavy lifting to muscle failure, one muscle group at a time. It is a safe, effective way to build and maintain muscle mass. This method works for beginners to weight lifting and as you progress to heavier weights.
I truly believe in exercising so we can live busy, active lives with no injuries.

LISA

"Pilates" Instructor

Lisa Wenger is a nationally certified, classically trained Pilates teacher comprehensive training in Advanced Mat and Equipment from UP - University of Pilates program run by Bonny-Lynn Russell & Amy Rost in Cochrane. Alberta.

Lisa became a student of Pilates when she first walked into Bonny-Lynn’s Embody Pilates Studio in Canmore Alberta in 2015. She was looking for a way to rehabilitate from chronic back & neck pain. After trying many other forms of rehabilitative & restorative exercises, she found that Pilates had everything she was looking for. A balance between building strength & flexibility, integrating the breath, mindful movement of the body, all fostering a deep connection with the body. Pilates had made such a huge difference in her mobility & overall well-being, that there was no turning back.
Lisa now operates a Pilates studio in her home in Cochrane where she offers group mat classes and private lessons on all the Pilates apparatus. Lisa is also a certified BodyTalk practitioner since 2016 and has been a professional accountant since 2003. She’s involved in several business ventures with her entrepreneur husband of 20 years.

Lisa loves spending time with her family. She’s a mother of 3 and grandmother of 4. Lisa enjoys connecting with nature, so you will find her out walking whenever she gets a chance. She also enjoys spending her summers with her husband glamping and out on the lake, soaking up the sun.

Rachel

"Yoga for Backs" Instructor

Rachel's Yoga journey started with a $5 Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) yoga video in 2001- a bargain-bin awakening! In 2008, her friend convinced her to try a class at a studio, and by her 10th class, she was hooked. She even quit her corporate gig to dive headfirst into yoga. In 2011, she proudly became a RYT-200. But that wasn't enough for her. She packed her bags and ventured to India for a year to explore and study yoga and its roots. Since then, she's become a yoga sponge, soaking up knowledge by taking countless hours of training in Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Functional Movements, Anatomy, CAT Yoga, vinyasa flow, kids yoga, Laughing Yoga, adjustments, and yoga therapy- just to name a few. She graduated as an EYRT-500 back in 2013 and has been teaching full-time ever since. She is a lively individual who tries to live life to the fullest. Her smile (and bad jokes) will inspire you to try something new, have fun, and reconnect with your inner radiance. She is a happy and light-hearted individual which comes through in all her classes. She is transparent, honest, and real, and encourages you to show up on the mat 'exactly as you are'. Besides yoga you can find Rachel at the climbing gym, hiking, riding her bike, snowboarding, reading, or hanging out with her family.

OUR YOGA & Movement CLASSES:

"YOGA FOR BACKS" (with Rachel)

  • Yoga for Backs is a practice that will help you relieve strain and tension in the body by using long holds in therapeutic postures. Once the body has released into the posture we integrate intelligent movement with the use of specific props to activate the proper muscles. This class is beneficial for everyone including beginners; if you have severe spinal conditions/injury please consult your doctor before joining the class.

"GENTLE FLOW YOGA" (with Cassandra)

  • This Gentle Flow class focuses on core stability, balance, full body range of motion, and meditative presence through both dynamic and isometric poses. Slowing down the transitions and holding for a few extra breaths allows us to finesse our alignment and sink into the magic of the shape. Beginning with meditation and breath work, moving into a Hatha-based flow, and finishing with some longer held Yin and Restorative poses; this is a well-rounded class to build strength, increase flexibility, and promote calm.

"MOVEMENT FOR MOBILITY" (with Sandra)

Whether you're mainly working at a desk and looking to unlock or you want a complimentary training to connect your strength to flexibility, or just looking to move better in daily life, this mind-body session guides you through targeted drills that improve range of motion and build lasting stability.
